The webcam allows us to see some wonderful things. We get to see different cats interacting in ways even someone with cats might not always see. But there are times when we also see things that are difficult to watch.

One time on cam, Farrah was high on the catwalk and had a seizure. She fell to the ground and Jacci immediately rushed to her. Jacci is experienced with what to do during a seizure. She wrapped a towel around her and held her, ensuring her head and tongue were protected. It didn’t last long, but for those of us who were watching it was 30 seconds of feeling utterly helpless.

And then there was that night, so many years ago, still with so many of us. It was very late, back then nighttime cam viewing didn’t have a lot of viewers, Farrah had a seizure. This one was longer than others and this one, was so very frightening for those of us watching. A wonderful, caring viewer from CA immediately called Jacci and said “a white cat is having a seizure.” Jacci rushed out to the center and held Farrah until the trembling stopped.

Prior to that it was hoped she may get past her seizures. But it was clear she needed medication and thus a nation across the world began to ask the same questions, night after night after year after year”has Farrah had her meds?”

It was a simple question asked for a much loved cat. The medication kept her well, and even if our heads may have told us ‘for only so long’ , our hearts wanted our sweet girl to be well, to be healthy to never suffer, to only know love.

We love some more than others, and some transcend even what we think we are capable of feeling for an animal, most of us have never met, have never touched or never held.

For those lucky enough to have patted her head, held her close or felt her touch, comfort to you all. You don’t just volunteer your time, your energy, your talent,: you volunteer your heart and your heart is broken today.

For those of us who love from a distance, our heart aches with you. But deep inside we find comfort in knowing our sweet girl had a good, happy life and made us all happy. If we close our eyes we can still hear our girl chirping with her favorite spring toy in her mouth. We can still see her reaching down off the counter to climb on Jacci’s shoulder as she sits on the ground doing her paperwork.

Since 2009 this sweet girl knew nothing but love. A few weeks shy of her 10th birthday, she leaves us in body but not in spirit as her spirit lives on through the love she gave and the love we give for her.

And she will continue to ride on the shoulders of her mom as we watch from a distance.

Very nice Purple. Anyone who has loved and lost a cat knows how Jacci is feeling. Very sad for Jacci, the volunteers and mods and all the viewers.
