Imagine for a minute it is Christmas. It is cold, so very cold. There has been an ice storm and heavy snow. A man spotted a cat, laying flat on the side of the road. By all appearances, she was dead. As he drove his plow back and forth he was on his last drive-by when he noticed she had raised her head. She had been there at least five hours and he could barely believe his eyes. She was alive. She was only 11 weeks old, frozen to the road. But she was alive.
He went to her and gently, ever so gingerly pried her frozen body from the road. He took her to a friend who immediately wrapped her up and took her to FFRC. She was suffering from severe hypothermia and now she was at FFRC where immediate medical care began.
For the next 48 hours she struggled to breathe, yet purred non-stop.
Her story is a story we know too well. A story that begins with heartbreak. A story that takes many turns over many years. You will hear her whole story and so many other stories of other cats, other triumphs over tragedies. On Saturday, April 30th you are all invited to attend the Feliz Navidad Event.starting at 2:00 p.m.
To prepare for that event we are having a mini fundraiser to help jump start the Feliz Navidad fund. This fundraiser will run Monday, April 25th and runs until Thursday, April 28th. There are just three items in this fundraiser, but they are big items, really big.
We will have a drawing on Saturday during the Feliz Navidad Event to pick the winners of the three items.
Here’s how it works. Donate $5.00 for each item you are interested in. You can donate as much as you want, you can donate for as many items as you want. Each $5.00 gets you a ticket in the drawing of that item. When paying with paypal, just make sure you specify which item you want.
This is a special event. An event to help fund a special fund for a special cat. The story of Feliz Navidad is the story of FFRC. They rush to save the lives of cats everyday, the focus is on doing what is necessary for that cat. The cost is not a concern at that moment, because FFRC knows the bills will get paid because there are so many people willing to help FFRC do what it does best, rescue cats.
There are so many success stories at FFRC, some we have witnessed, some we have heard, but all the stories are made possible by everyone. Events like this help in ways we can only imagine, but also in ways that we see every day.
