You Can Still Send in Quilt Squares!

Post by joco51 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 7:29 pm

Thanks to you all for helping to raise funds for FFRC!
So let get our FFRC Nation into making quilts.
This information is for each signature square.
You will need to send two squares to the address below.
1. You will need two 7” squares of 100% NON STRETCHY cotton. Any stretchy fabric WILL NOT WORK.
2. Note: Please use cloth of a light color or white if using a black permanent marker. If using a darker color fabric, you will need to get a Fabric Pen in a lighter color.
3. You can go to Joann Fabric, Walmart or your favorite quilt/fabric store or check with a friend. You can buy ¼ yard which is 9” or a fat quarter to get your squares from. The cost will be just a few dollars. A cat theme is preferred but not required. If you are from outside the USA, feel free to represent your country! Check around your house. You may already have fabric you can use! 
4. After you have your 7” squares, fold the square in half and then open it back up and fold it in half the other way. This will make a ‘cross’ in the square that you can see (fold lines). The middle of the ‘cross’ is where you write your chat name, etc. Try to stay in the middle of the square.
5. Use a fabric pen or a sharpie ultrathin to write with. DO NOT USE BALL POINT OR GEL PEN!!!
Use a light touch rather than a heavy touch when writing. Test your writing on a left over scrap of fabric.
6. If you are going to make your own quilted block, the edges must remain unfinished and EXACTLY 6.5” square! NO LESS THAN 6.5” each side!
7. HOW TO SIGN: (suggestion only)
Your chat name, then your first name and last initial and your city and state or just your state or country.
If you want to write a short message, I suggest you write it out on paper first and then write it to the fabric. The outer 1” of the 7” square will not show. This is where the square is sewn to the next square in the quilt. Any writing in the outer 1” of the square will not show. And the message should be generic.
Mail your squares to:
Vixanna Robbel
604 South Church St.
Winnebago, IL 61088 any further questions email Vixann at bagoquilter@gmail.com

The signed squares to be put into each quilt will be chosen at random just the same as drawing names out of a hat. That way, no one will be favored/slighted on any quilt.
If you cannot send in a cloth square, you can still be part of the future quilts. For a donation mailed to Vixanna, a square can be made for you by her from donated fabric that she has. Any amount of donation is fine. All monies will be donated to FFRC. When Vixanna runs out of donated fabric and squares, this project will be done. We expect this project to go for several more months, though.

Vixanna will make these quilts in her spare time as she does have other customers. Be patient. 
The quilts to be made will be smaller lap quilts and will be raffled off. That way, everyone has a fair chance to own one of these historic quilts.
Thanks for loving cats and kittens and FFRC.
