A suggestion for people new to forums

Post by FaithyMD » Sun Nov 03, 2013 3:34 pm

I love forums - but they can be tricky for people new to them, so here are just a few thoughts/suggestions - and a place for others to share their tricks.

1) First off, to make sure you don't miss anything - the best way to view is to use the [show unread posts] out of the options just above the Board index.
You can also use the [Show New Posts] but the trick to using that tool is you need to use your 'back' button to get back to the list to be sure you don't lose a post

2) secondly, before you start a new topic - review the Topics already there - it takes no time at all for the number of topics (each with a single post or 2) to become overwhelming and hard to navigate.
>>> doing that also makes it much easier to find info later - that skill will take time to learn - but will be worth the effort.

we those are my 2 main points on forums for any newbies out there - who else has an idea to share?

I've got a couple :D

If you perhaps use RSS feeds, the forum's feed can be found at feed.php.

The way I had set my avatar was by using the "FFRC Nation Social" link, which is separate from the forum. However, there's a few more pieces of information you might like to fill out specifically for the forum here: http://ffrcnation.com/ffrc-nation-forum/user.html. Oooor click here:

As an example of the above tip, my forum signature was set thru that :D
